His Highness Maharaja Hanwant Singhji Charitable Trust, since 1980 has been continuously working in rural areas with a view to raise the living standard of the people as also to provide much needed succour during various natural calamities. The Trust has been venturing to seek a long term solution to the ever repeating droughts in the Thar Desert. The Trust shared its thoughts with Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai who most graciously agreed to jointly launch this unique initiative of drought proofing a selected cluster of 16 villages, so selected because they formed a homogenous area of micro watersheds, all forming part of Balesar Panchayat Samiti of Jodhpur Dist. of Rajasthan, INDIA.
